Standing at a relatively small 5’9″, Jim Wynn was nicknamed “The Toy Cannon” because he had a lot of “pop” in his bat despite his small size. In fact, he had so much pop in his bat that if not for the long outfield fences of the Astrodome, he probably would have beaten Hank Aaron in the 1967 home run chase. Wynn once hit a home run so hard that it sailed over the scoreboard of Crosley Field in Cincinnati and landed on Interstate 75.
