As a member of the famed “Pittsburgh Lumber Company” of the 1970s, Al Oliver helped the Pittsburgh Pirates win five National League Eastern Division titles. If he wasn’t forced to retire due to collusion by Major League Baseball, there is a good chance he could have went on to amass over 3,000 hits (his career ended at 2,743 hits).
